SERVING HAMILTON

Older houses need a different approach

Century homes, settled frames, laneway garages

Much of Hamilton was built long before today’s standard sizes — brick homes in Westdale, Kirkendall and Crown Point, with door frames that have settled, original window openings and detached garages off the back lane. Off-the-shelf parts rarely drop straight in, so every job starts with a proper measure.

Our Hamilton crew works both the Mountain and the Lower City, and most calls are reached within the hour.

WHY HAMILTON TRUSTS US

What Hamilton gets from our crew

01. Up the Mountain and Down

The crew covers both sides of the escarpment, so a call in Stoney Creek or on the West Mountain isn’t waiting on traffic up the Jolley Cut.

02. Measured, Then Quoted

Older Hamilton openings are rarely standard, so we measure first and quote a fixed price after. No surprises once work starts.

03. Parts for Older Homes

Vans carry hardware sized for century doors, original window openings and detached laneway garages, not just new builds.

04. Our Own Licensed Team

Every technician is an Edge Home employee, licensed, insured and WSIB-covered. No subcontractor shows up at your door.

FAQ

Hamilton questions, answered straight

01. Do you cover both the Mountain and the Lower City?

Yes. We cover all of Hamilton above and below the escarpment, plus Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, Binbrook and Mount Hope. Rates are the same everywhere, with no extra charge for driving up the Mountain.

Yes. Many Hamilton homes are 80 to 120 years old, and their openings are rarely standard sizes. We measure every opening first, and we size each door or window to fit it. We don’t force a standard unit into an opening it doesn’t fit.

Yes, and Hamilton has a lot of them. Many are older single doors with extension springs or manual operation. We repair them, convert them to torsion springs, or replace the door and add an opener.

Not always. Sound wood frames can often be kept with new weatherstripping, new sashes or glass-only replacement. If the frames are rotted or the house has single-pane glass, replacing the windows makes more sense. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in.

Yes. Westdale and Ainslie Wood have a lot of rentals. We regularly rekey locks between tenants, fix forced doors and replace windows. We can deal with the landlord or the property manager directly.

For emergencies, most Hamilton addresses are reached within the hour, 24/7. Waterdown, Binbrook and Mount Hope sit further out and usually take up to 90 minutes, depending on traffic on the Linc and the Red Hill.
