These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of edgehome.ca (the “Website”) and to all services provided by Edge Home (“Edge Home”, “we”, “us” or “our”), including garage door repair and installation, door and window services, residential, commercial and automotive locksmith services, and home improvement work (the “Services”).
By using the Website, requesting a quote or booking a Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website or our Services.
1. Quotes and Estimates
- Quotes given by phone are based on the information you provide and may change once a technician inspects the job on site.
- Before any work begins, the technician will confirm the scope and a firm price with you. No work starts without your approval.
- If hidden conditions are discovered during the work (for example, rotted framing, damaged structure or outdated wiring), we will stop, explain the issue and provide a revised quote. Additional work proceeds only with your approval.
- Written quotes for installations and renovations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
2. Booking, Scheduling and Arrival Times
- Arrival times and response times are estimates. Traffic, weather, road conditions and prior jobs can cause delays, and we will keep you informed where possible.
- Please make sure someone 18 or older is present to give access and approve the work.
- You are responsible for providing safe access to the work area, including clearing snow, ice and obstructions, securing pets, and obtaining any building, condo or property management approvals.
3. Service Call and Emergency Fees
- Emergency and after-hours calls may carry a service call fee covering travel and diagnosis. The fee will be stated before a technician is dispatched.
- Where you proceed with the repair, the service call fee is credited toward the cost of the work.
- If you decline the work after diagnosis, the service call fee remains payable.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
- Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a scheduled appointment.
- If a technician arrives and cannot access the property or complete the job because of circumstances within your control, a service call fee may apply.
- Custom-ordered products (such as made-to-measure doors, windows, garage doors and specialty hardware) cannot be cancelled once ordered. Deposits for custom orders are non-refundable once the order has been placed with the manufacturer.
5. Deposits and Payment
- Installations, custom orders and renovation projects may require a deposit before materials are ordered.
- Larger projects are billed on a deposit-and-milestone schedule set out in writing before work begins.
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the balance is due on completion of the work.
- We accept debit, major credit cards, e-transfer and cash.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable HST is added to all invoices.
- Overdue balances may be subject to interest of 2% per month (26.8% per year) and reasonable collection costs. Materials remain the property of Edge Home until paid in full, to the extent permitted by law.
6. Locksmith Services and Proof of Authorisation
- For lockouts, rekeying, lock changes and car key replacement, you must provide reasonable proof that you are authorised to access the property or vehicle, such as photo ID showing the address, a lease, utility bill, vehicle registration or insurance document.
- We may refuse or stop work if authorisation cannot be confirmed.
- You confirm that any information you provide about ownership or authorisation is true. You are responsible for any loss or claim resulting from false information.
- We use non-destructive entry methods wherever possible. Some locks, especially high-security cylinders, may need to be drilled or replaced. We will explain this and the cost before proceeding.
7. Car Locksmith Services
- Key cutting and programming depends on the vehicle make, model, year and security system. Some vehicles may require additional time, parts or dealer-only procedures, and we will tell you if a job cannot be completed on site.
- Aftermarket keys, fobs or blanks supplied by you are used at your own risk. We are not responsible if a customer-supplied part fails to program or work.
- We are not responsible for pre-existing faults in the vehicle’s electrical, ignition or immobiliser systems.
8. Garage Door Safety
- Garage door springs and cables are under high tension. Do not attempt to adjust, remove or operate a door with a broken spring or cable.
- After a repair, our technician will test the door’s balance, safety sensors and opener settings. Please report any change in operation promptly.
- We recommend annual maintenance to keep the system safe and extend its life.
9. Permits and Building Requirements
- Some work, including structural changes, egress windows, decks and certain renovations, may require municipal permits or approvals, including heritage approvals in designated districts.
- Where permits are part of our written scope, we will apply for them. Permit fees are charged to you unless included in your quote.
- You are responsible for confirming any condo, homeowner association or landlord rules that apply to the work.
10. Materials and Products
- Products are supplied as described in your quote. Manufacturers may change product specifications, colours or availability; where this happens we will offer an equivalent product of equal or better quality, with your approval.
- Natural materials such as wood and stone vary in colour and grain. This variation is not a defect.
- Lead times for custom products are estimates provided by manufacturers and are outside our control.
11. Warranty
- Labour: We warranty our workmanship for a period stated on your invoice, starting from the date the work is completed. If a defect in our workmanship appears during that period, we will return and fix it at no charge.
- Parts and products: Parts and products carry the manufacturer’s warranty, typically one to five years depending on the component. We will help you make manufacturer warranty claims.
- Warranty does not cover: normal wear and tear; damage caused by misuse, accidents, vehicle impact, forced entry, weather events, settling of the building, or lack of maintenance; work or repairs done by others after our visit; customer-supplied materials or parts; and cosmetic issues reported after completion that were not noted at the final walkthrough.
- Warranty is valid only when the invoice has been paid in full.
12. Limitation of Liability
- We carry full commercial liability insurance and WSIB coverage for our employees.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific Service giving rise to the claim.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including loss of use, loss of business income or inconvenience.
- We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions, hidden defects in the property, or damage to items not removed from the work area after reasonable notice.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, or other applicable law that cannot be excluded.
13. Complaints and Disputes
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, contact us within 30 days of completion. We will review the issue and, where appropriate, return to inspect and resolve it. We encourage you to raise concerns with us first so we can make it right.

15. Reviews and Photos
With your permission, we may photograph completed work for our portfolio and marketing. We will not show your address, house number or anything that identifies you without your consent. If you leave a review, you confirm it reflects your genuine experience.
16. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. The Terms in effect at the time you book a Service apply to that Service.
